Apologetics 101: Introduction

Welcome to EQUIP! This course is a great first step if you’re just getting started in apologetics. If you’re more experienced and familiar with Dr. Craig’s material, this will serve as a refresher, and it will ensure that you have all of the necessary background for the upper-level courses. We encourage you to bring friends along so you’ll retain more of the content, become more conversant with new ideas, and have more fun!

In this course you’ll get a bird’s eye view of Reasonable Faith’s core apologetics content. We expect this course to take beginners about 4-5 hours to complete.

We encourage you to take this course before any other Equip courses, although that is not required.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, you will be equipped to:

  • Explain what apologetics is, why it is important, and how it fits together with personal faith and evangelism
  • Share three arguments for God’s existence with a non-believer (the Kalam Cosmological Argument, the Fine-Tuning Argument, and the Moral Argument)
  • Share one argument for the truth of Christianity with a non-believer (the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth)
  • Defend Christianity from many of the common objections you’ll encounter in everyday conversations and on the internet, such as:
    • Why doesn’t God stop evil?
    • Aren’t we all atheists about most gods?
    • Why doesn’t God make his existence more obvious?
    • Isn’t Jesus just a copy of pagan myths?
    • Isn’t it arrogant to say that Jesus is the only way to God?
    • How can a loving God send people to Hell?
