On Heaven

Heaven is what most Christians have as an end goal, and view their earthly lives as just awaiting their eternal life with God. They also determine God’s Kingdom to be perfect and without change for an eternity. This may seem scary at first glance, however, as Chrisitian faith teaches that God is perfect, we must seek God in our lives always, and with this, we will be forever fulfilled and reach eternal happiness. If the end goal is to be in God’s Kingdom, and if one reaches that end goal, then why not assume that we will be eternally fulfilled and always happy in this perfect place. Using the word “perfect” is not to be taken lightly either. In Christians teachings, it is taught that only God is truly good and perfect, and we must try everyday to live up to the standards that Jesus Christ set for us when he came to earth. Therefore, we do not truly know perfection, we only know of it while trying to know God. Another point I would like to call attention to is the warning that we are not to love objects, let alone anything on this earth more than or before God. In Colossians 3:1-4 it says, “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” (Also, this is not just a Christian belief. Catholics also teach you to put God first and praise nothing from this earth, and that with God in your life, you will be happy.) To conclude, reaching God’s Kingdom is the final goal. God is perfect, and His Kingdom is perfect. God is the only thing that will truly fulfill us. Therefore, when one is to reach heaven, total fulfillment, happiness, and perfection will be upon them, and there will be no thought of change or other goals to be met.
